Cancer Research UK

One in two people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. There are over 200 types of cancer, and Cancer Research UK is the only charity funding research into every single type. With no government funding for their research, the charity’s bold ambition is to double cancer survival rates over the next 20 years so that three in four people survive the disease by 2034. Over the last 40 years, cancer survival has doubled: today, half of cancer patients will survive.

There is still a long way to go. And every step made towards beating cancer relies on every pound, every hour and every person. Yes, there are over 200 types of cancer. But there are 63 million of us. As the world’s largest independent cancer research charity, Cancer Research UK conducts research into the prevention, diagnosis, control and cure of cancer. Research activities are carried out in institutes, universities and hospitals across the UK, both by the charity’s own employees and by its grand-funded researchers.

Cancer Research UK also provides the public with information about cancer and runs campaigns aimed at influencing public policy.
